Why was the Second Amendment written
The progressive movement some of you have voted for 8 years ago is a part of this they are trying to abolish for a reason.

RE: Why was the Second Amendment written
Kurt,

That is very appropriate for the times, and it is very well written. One of the things that is totally wrong w/ the looney left (among others) is their use of the term "progressive." Actually, everything they do and say is not in the least even close to "progressive", but "regressive" would actually be a much better term.

RE: Why was the Second Amendment written
Great link there Kurt! As IR said it is well written. I am not sure if American History is even taught in some schools today. I have a good friend who teaches down in Florida. Although she teaches math she has taken it upon herself to also teach cursive writing............which is not being taught much if at all today. She said none of the kids in her classes could write their name. Now that means they couldn't sign a check............and it also means they can't read the Consitution of the United States! Her exact words.........the left has influenced our education system in more ways than you will ever want to know.

RE: Why was the Second Amendment written
Rick the left don't want the Kids or the public in general to know what is written in the Constitution. There was a time when I was a Kid that you had to pass the Constitution test to get out of 8th grade in School. Even American History has taken a beating in the Schools.

And when the question is asked if the 2nd Amendment gives the people the right to keep and bear arms, let's remind them that the Constitution begins with "We the People..." Shoot sharp, Mike

RE: Why was the Second Amendment written
This Nation was created as a Republic.
I wonder just how many people know what a Republic is.

What is the difference between a Republic and a Democracy?

They don't teach it in Schools anymore. Wonder Why??????????

RE: Why was the Second Amendment written
A candidate's stance on the Second Amendment should be a litmus test for any concerned voter. If they are against the Second Amendment, then don't vote for them - they probably do not understand other issues at hand and certainly will not have a Constitutionally correct solution to them.

It really pisses me off my ancestors fought in the revolution. One was a Col. In the Virginia militia and another one signed the Declaration of Independence. I belong to the SAR and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. I have a bad feeling that we're going to have to take a stand somewhere.
