Big Bore BPCR Silhouette at Smithmoor
Yahoo!!! The first big bore BPCR silhouette match at Smithmoor is a go!! Saturday the 20th of June. Show up eight to eight thirty and shooting starts at nine. The range is located at 4696 Rd. 204 Carpenter Wyoming 82054. Google maps should give good directions, but it is a mile west and a mile north of Carpenter on County road 147. No charge for shooting and no awards will be give, only the fame and glory. Coralee will be making something good for lunch but folks are welcome to bring something to share as well. It will be a forty shot match. Although shooters will have to set targets, we don't have to put them out or pick them up. There is not a clubhouse or covered line yet and you will have to bring your own table or plan on parking your pickup close so you can use the tailgate to set your shooting box on. Come help us celebrate the beginning of something great.
Call Cody or Gary for any questions or directions.
Hope to see you there, Cody

RE: Big Bore BPCR Silhouette at Smithmoor
Fellow Shooters,
The first monthly big bore match at Smithmoor was a success! We had 9 riflemen and women make it out. It being Quigley weekend, I was quite pleased with the turnout. Target visibility was quite good and we were lucky to get a relatively calm day to shoot. It was a bright sunny day and it did get quite warm on the shooting line without it being covered yet.. Several of us learned something about mirage as it was about as bad as it can get. Coralee whipped up some sloppy joes and Carol brought buns and some good mixed fruit. Thanks ladies for the nice lunch. Several of us were shooting either new rifles, loads, or sights and did not have sight settings which probably accounted for some of the lower scores. My sure bet new rifle and load didn't turn out so hot as I failed miserably on the lay down targets.....back to the drawing board! Dick Hennebry ended up high shooter for the day with a 20. Relatively new shooter Kevin Finney has showed huge improvement by also shooting a 20, but losing to Dick by reverse animal count. All in all, it was a great day and I very much appreciate all of the support we have had. Thanks a bunch to those that were able to make it out to shoot today as well.
take care, Cody
ps A time clock and a temperature/barometet meter got left at the range. Also, somebody accidently took an extra Stay Put shooting mat home with them as I am short one. Contact me and we will get a plan on how to get them returned.

RE: Big Bore BPCR Silhouette at Smithmoor
This deal that Cody and his dad Gary have put together for this match is just fantastic. It's something that has been needed in this part of the world for decades.
Only way to go is onward and upward, and I predict it will soon grow into a life of it's own.
I shot a rifle I had never fired before, found out it absolutely destested the money bullets, but loved the old postel and Cartridge powder. Had it of behaved it's self on the turkeys it might have dodged the trip to Eron Ahmers to become a 45-90 paper patch gun
Carol had a lot of trouble with her front sight aperature, finally found one she could get along with in this mirage, which was about the worst I've seen anywhere, and scored 6 turkey's she came home happy and ready to do it again.
Doc shot the match with his 40-90 bn using just the ladder sights. Again he was shooting 5 different loads that hadn't been previously shot in that rifle, we found a couple of things that rifle likes, and there's 10 turkeys that everyone dodged very near misses, and gave us a lot of laughs on the way home.
A wise man can always be found alone. A weak man can always be found in a crowd.

Are there targets out there??!! I don't think there are, maybe that's why I shot so poorly yesterday!
