Olde Eynsford powder - Ironramrod - 05-30-2014
Guys, here's an interesting observation for you. I just happened to click on the Arizona Sharpshooters website to check out their for sale section. When the website came up here was a well written note by Mr. Steve Rhodes describing the outstanding test results using the premium quality Olde Eynsford powder, and comparison to another premium powder.
Of course, a number of the premier shooters on this site (e.g. Kurt, Don Mc, et.al.) have been campaigning the O.E. powder over a year now, and it looks like the word is really getting around now. Looks like there are "no flies" on this forum and the participants.
Good job of experimenting and getting the info out guys!

I give credit where credit is due. When Jerry at Powder ink got the shipment I had him send me a mixed case and I wasted no time loading some ladder loads and went to the range. I could tell right off when a group came together like the iris on the camera shutter when the proper compression was reached.
But right after the first couple shots fired the smoke and the dragon blood did not look the same and when I dropped them in a can of water to clean the brass the normal rotten egg sulfur smell was not there and this made me think that it was just another sub Hodgen is coming out with but jerry told me that they told him it was black powder. But still I feel that it's not the same powder that I have used for the last 58 years. But regardless it is very good powder.
I'm starting to venture into the 3F OE. I just finished the last of the 3f I got when jerry stocked it and at first I did not get very good results using it. It is a very fast powder and the last few times out with the .45-2.4 it's starting to open my eyes using the new Danielson prolate 513 gr bullet I got a mould for last fall. I have seen three shot groups down @ 200 I could cover holding three fingers (thumb and two fingers
)like a clover leave This made me get a case of 3F ordered for more work with it.Kurt

Mike it seems to be case volume related. But the 2F .180 to .250 will get you in the ball park. I have used some loads with around .320" in the .44's
