Not knowing anything about anything, I found this to be an interesting article:

I do note he says lower velocity means more wind drift, and his tests are with modern rifles. So for the bp stuff it may well hold true. I'd like to see the same bench tests for the lower velocity rounds.
Anyway thought I'd share.

Good read Bob.
Rick Mulhern has had a lot of good training with some of the best marksman coaches that might chime in on this.
One thing I have noticed shooting .22 matches out to 200 yards is the standard velocity subsonic rimfire rounds drift less in moderate winds than the High velocity rounds do. And when I shoot the .22 mag rifle the wind drift decreases again.
