Shiloh 77 - Don McDowell - 06-18-2013 Bob and Phyllis had the 77 out on display. Got to handle the thing a little bit, they've added the Ebony pistol grip. It handles and feels a good bit different than I thought it might. Actually sort of liked it. Bob says that the rifle recoils more straight back than the muzzle flip of the 74. He also says he's got the screws for 700 of them built and ready. Sounds like they're just about ready to start taking orders. RE: Shiloh 77 - bobw - 06-18-2013 Yeah Don I handled it too and thought it was elegantly built. felt good also. bobw RE: Shiloh 77 - Barvid - 06-24-2013 AND a #1 Heavy in .40-65 with a 32" barrel makes the 12lb 2oz weight limit. I handled Kirk's 77 at the TX Stshoot and it is a good handling rifle. Best, Barvid RE: Shiloh 77 - Don McDowell - 06-24-2013 40-65 didn't really grab my attention, but a 44-77 would certainly grab my heartstrings. RE: Shiloh 77 - Barvid - 06-26-2013 My reference to 40-65 was because that is the calibre Kirk was shooting. I was impressed by the added barrel weight and still legal for BPCR. I will build a .40 target 77 with a very heavy round barrel that mates up to the round top/front of the receiver very closely, with no rib. Strictly a Mid Range gun. Best, DB RE: Shiloh 77 - Don McDowell - 06-26-2013 Yessir the 40-65 is a nice cartridge and that rifle of Kirks handles like a dream. But everytime I run a batch of rounds thru the 44-77 the better I like it. Load it with the 1.1 inch bullet and it shoots just fine to 800 yds, rain or shine. Loaded with a 1.35 inch bullet and it really don't take any crap from nothing to 1000. My #3 should be back with it's new 44 barrel in a couple of months. Maybe next year if things get to looking better in the checkbook I'll order a 77, just like Kirks except for if I went for a 40 I'ld be terrible tempted to do the 40-90 bn. |
