40/50 BN - Stephen Borud - 04-05-2013 I ordered a 40/50 BN for my wife and sons a year ago in February! I purchased an original pp round and sent it to Orville so he could design a reamer for me! The rifle will shoot a 265 gr pp bullet, 45-50 grains of Fg and have a 1/18 twist! It will be perfect for a Wyoming antelope or deer! If I'm lucky I might be able to break it in this fall! ![]() Stephen Borud RE: 40/50 BN - Don McDowell - 04-05-2013 Got to have pictures and a shooting report when you get it! RE: 40/50 BN - powderburner - 04-05-2013 Stephen , I been loadig and shooting one of them , man o man what a nifty ctg. I am about to talk sweet to Lucinda and see if she will rebarrel my mt rough rider, RE: 40/50 BN - Stephen Borud - 04-05-2013 No kidding Dean? So are you loading it like the originals? Are you using the 1/18 twist? I will give you a report Don when I get it! I think there's going to be a lot of meat made with that little cartridge! ![]() Stephen RE: 40/50 BN - Don McDowell - 04-05-2013 I've seen a fella shooting a 40-50 at Alliance on occasion, it's a neat little cartridge but it has a heck of a time if the wind is up getting onto the 1000 yd gong. I do think you're right, it should make a spiffy lil meat getter. RE: 40/50 BN - Stephen Borud - 04-05-2013 Yes Don, a meat getter it will be! I wanted to have a round that my wife and kids could shoot a lot that doesn't consume a lot of expendables! Stephen RE: 40/50 BN - Don McDowell - 04-05-2013 Stephen there must be something to the lilbugger if it's got ol Dean playin with and wanting a weanie,, gun... RE: 40/50 BN - powderburner - 04-06-2013 ya see I got this here rifle chambered in a non standard sharps ctg and it bothers me , if I turn it into a 40-70 I have to dink with brass , with the 40-50 I just turn 45-70s into them or 45/31/4 which works really well , as it gives the tubing cutter a good purchase, and increases the wall thickness by a couple, this remington rifle we have been working with has a generous chamber , and I really want a tighter neck on it for pp. RE: 40/50 BN - Don McDowell - 04-06-2013 Aww but you could always go 40-90 bn in that 40-65, and then order a proper #3 with a standard barrel in 40-50.. RE: 40/50 BN - Stephen Borud - 04-06-2013 A #3 spotter is what I'm a getting for the family! 12 3/4" pull, standard weight barrel! Thought about putting a MVA scope on it too, since I don't have a scoped Sharps! |
