Bushing Neck Die - Steveu - 01-05-2024 All, Is there a vendor out there that makes a neck sizing die that uses bushings for a .40 cal? I have looked, but the major mfg's seem to stop at .35 cal. I have looked at a regular neck die, but they have a diameter of .425" and I was wanting to go from .428 -.430". Cheers, Steve RE: Bushing Neck Die - Don McDowell - 01-05-2024 At one time I think Wilson and Sinclair would make those in custom sizes, but I wouldn't swear to it. RE: Bushing Neck Die - Kurt - 01-05-2024 Meacham makes bushing dies. RE: Bushing Neck Die - J.B. - 01-05-2024 C.H.-4D used to make the bushing dies but have recently ceased their production. This I confirmed on a recent order. They do provide bushings still , so I was able to jag the two I was after. I believe Redding have just introduced a bushing die set up but currently I believe its orientated towards the more modern cartridges.. and selective in those also. I have a Meacham bushing die and several bushings for .50 cal.. they work fine also but dont know if they are still in production. J.B. RE: Bushing Neck Die - Nuclearcricket - 01-06-2024 A bushing die is not too hard to fabricate if you have or know someone that has a lathe. The bushings are not hard to make either. Its just finding someone with the time to set and make up what you need. Finding someone that can harden the bushings may be a bit harder but depending on how much loading you will be doing with the bushings they could be left soft or even made from some left over barrel cut off's if they are the right OD. Sam RE: Bushing Neck Die - Steveu - 01-06-2024 Thanks all. I think Meacham is out of business, I can’t find a good contract. I wish I had the machine skills that some of you possess to make my own. I will have to call Redding on Monday. I will also call Lee to see if they can make a collet for with a couple of different size mandrels. Cheers, Steve RE: Bushing Neck Die - Kurt - 01-06-2024 You can try Lee also. They used to offer collar neck sizing dies. The way things are unavailable now it almost seems like they been threatened to stop making shooting related products. RE: Bushing Neck Die - Kurt - 01-06-2024 Steve, do you have any sort of bushing die now? Bushings are easy to make RE: Bushing Neck Die - Steveu - 01-09-2024 Kurt, I do have one, but it's for my .223! I got a reply from Lee and they will make a collet die set for about $100 plus what ever extra mandrels I need. RE: Bushing Neck Die - Kurt - 01-09-2024 Will your case fit into the die body? or is it caliber spasific ? What caliber is the .40? |
