Winter fouling control - JKR - 11-11-2022

What are you guys using for fouling control during the cold months? My normal mix of water and cutting oil froze while I was shooting this morning.
My fingers weren’t far behind!

RV antifreeze 50/50 or Volkswagon antifreeze 50/50 mix. But rarely am I out in that kind of cold unless hunting.

GB,
You, no doubt have far more sense than me. But, if I’m not out in the cold, it’s five months before I can shoot again. It would be hard for me to stay away from it that long. The ultimate solution would be to move south, at least for the winter, but I haven’t found the perfect spot yet.
Any reason for VW antifreeze in particular?

Jim
Nerer mind the VW antifreeze.
Just get some RV antifreeze which is alcohol based , Pink in color for freeze proofing RV water systems.
and not "disagreeable" like automotive glycol based antifreeze
I have used the RV antifreeze in low 20s, when I "needed" to get some winter shooting done. no problem. I have used it straight, but a person could dilute with some water.
PS, Did I mention to you that Merrill gun club will be running the winter "Indoor/Outdoor" 22 long range shoot from Inside the warm clubhouse...

If my Napa oil and water mix freezes up its to cold to shoot anyway

Sounds good Arnie. I happen to have two gallons left over from filling up my in floor heating system about twenty years ago. Should be perfectly aged by now.
I hope to make your match this year.
It never freezes in Wyoming anyway, does it Don?
