Pewter - Tgc - 09-25-2022 Hey guys, has anyone used pewter to blend with lead for bpcr bullets? Pewter scrap claims 92%-95% tin and5%-8% antimony with perhaps some copper, depending upon source. Tim RE: Pewter - DirtySteve - 09-25-2022 I have used it with very good success for pistol bullets. My 9mm would shoot 4" groups at 50 yards.. I would not hesitate to use it for rifle bullets. RE: Pewter - Tgc - 09-27-2022 Steve, thank you for sharing your experience. I will be trying it this fall. I first need a bullet mold for my new to me 44 90 Remington Straight . Thanks again, Tim. RE: Pewter - Hiwall55 - 09-28-2022 If you need some 44-90 straight brass, I have 50 made from 2.6 starline brass. $40 shipped They measure 2.440 RE: Pewter - Tgc - 09-29-2022 Highwall 55, thank you. In these days of lack of products and price gouging your offer is refreshing and more than fair. I'll take them. Thanks again. Tim RE: Pewter - beltfed - 09-29-2022 TGC What rifle and twist is the new 44-90? and what is the chambering? A specific Paper Patch chamber Or a "standard" chamber. If a standard chamber, you might look at two Buffalo Arms molds: JIM443495EPP for an 18 twist JiM441505EPP for a 17 twist. You can specify the actual diameters to fit your chamber/bore and groove, beltfed/arnie RE: Pewter - Tgc - 09-29-2022 The rifle is a Rolling block target rifle. It was rebarreled with a badger 1 turn in 18". The deal included some rounds loaded with grease groove bullets. I have yet to do any bore and groove or chamber measurements. The gunsmith was John King, there is a sticker on the butt stock dated 1999, so I think that it was rebuilt some time before that date. Tim RE: Pewter - Tgc - 10-19-2022 Highwall 55. Received the brass this morning, looks great. I was impressed with the custom shipping container. Thanks again. Tim. RE: Pewter - Hiwall55 - 10-20-2022 I have aJohn King roller in 44/70, 2.1. Green Mountain barrel 18twist that loves the BACO 500 grain money with shallow grease grooves. Good luck. |
