The .22 Rf mini Palma match - Kurt - 07-23-2022

I got up at 0300 hrs this morning and drove to Wisconsin Rapids Wisconsin for their monthly .22 Palma Match. It usually takes 3 1/2 hrs for me to get there but this morning when I pulled out the sky fas full of lightning and just 5 miles from home the winds and rain plus quarter sized hail came down so hard that the wipers would not clear the windshield driving 15 mph so I did not get to the range till slightly after 0820 and the match was already going strong so I missed the shooters meting.
I got signed up for the second relay and shot it. I sort of felt like the Lone Ranger, I was the only shooter sitting on a stool shooting off cross sticks and the rest were prone shooting some fine modern rifles with adjustable front rests.
A great bunch of shooters, maybe close to 30 ??
When the relay ended we went down to pull the targets for scoring them I looked at my neighbors target and he had a bunch of more holes through the three targets than I had Big Grin
Found out that it was a 15 shot per target and I just shot 10 LOL, oh well I will poke more holes through the paper next month Big Grin Still I shot a 283 out of 300 so I don't feel too bad.
Still could not see the cross hairs on the black bull but I could see the hairs on the outside of the bull and this was enough to judge where the center was by seeing them at 6&12 3&9 o'clock. I should hold at 6 and will the next time I shoot this match.
It was a fun time even with the 4 hr trip getting to the range.

Kurt,
Considering having to shoot sitting/cross stix, you did Good for the 30 shot match you shot at 283/300.
They better look out next month when you shoot the whole 45 shots.
Great seeing you.

I enjoyed it Arnie.
And man did the attendance for this match grow in just a short time.
I think it's the relaxed attitude and bring what you have.
It's a fine match and I hope you guys can keep it growing.

I just looked at the finals again and looking at the top 10, the north woods have some very hard holders.
1. Eric Heggelund 449-32x
2. Ken Wills 447-26x
3. Arnie Seitz 447-22x
4. Joe Tambornino. 447-19x
5. Brian Lettrich 446-32x
6. Warren Gabrilska 443-23x
Jeff Heeler 443-23x
8. Bill Gardner 441-16x
9. Jack Konkol 440-17x
10. Mike Penyak 439-20x

When you look at those scores for 100 YDS?/100 MTRS? where the X ring is just 3/4" and the 10 ring 1 3/4" and holding that finish with a possible 450 I call fine shooting.
