Baco 438470 - Don McDowell - 05-30-2022

I asked Baco to put some modification to the 434470 bullet shorten it up a touch and add a .4 in long base .438 diameter
It weighs 467 cast from 16-1. Loaded 15 wrapped in SC55y over 82 gr OE 1f and a single wad from the thin napa rubber cork material and 15 over the thick material. Cases primed rp 2 1/2 in Jamison cases
Shot from 600 prone off sticks, still using the MVA 23 in scope in DZ mounts
Wind running 15 mph coming mostly from 2 o’clock but swinging to 10 with the occasional stop at full bore head wind

The picture in first post was the thick wad this is the thin wad
No adjustments for wind just shooting group as best we could

RE: Baco 438470 - Don McDowell - 05-30-2022

This is the last of the thick wad loads trying to chase the wind
Wiped between all shots with the Baco bore wipes wet with 7-1 napa oil water and chased with a 2 1/2 dry flannel patch

Looks pretty good, Don.
Which 44 was this shot in?

RE: Baco 438470 - Don McDowell - 05-30-2022

This was in the Shiloh #1 with the 32 inch standard barrel. The rifle hasn't shown any dislike for anything I've put thru it just yet.
What I was pretty tickled with was the fouling running this 1f and no lube wad of any sort or on the patch was easily wiped clean.

Here it is cast wrapped and loaded

Don , that is a dandy looking bullet and cartridge. Tim.

Thanks Tim
I believe it’s going to be a real good one

Don ,what do you call the nose shape of this bullet? Tim.

RE: Baco 438470 - Don McDowell - 11-09-2022

Tim it's more or less a Metford nose. BACO used that nose shape on most of their paper patch bullets until the money bullet craze hit.
