MOre on the 44/77, 44/90 - beltfed - 12-29-2021 https://www.assra.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1640735679 IN ASSRA forum. GG bullets, comments FWIW Arnie RE: MOre on the 44/77, 44/90 - Don McDowell - 12-29-2021 The comments I made there were based on the info in 2 different years Sharps catalogs.... RE: MOre on the 44/77, 44/90 - J.B. - 12-29-2021 That RCBS mould was the source of some discussion some years back, at least for the Shiloh chamber. Thats why I had Tom at Accurate do that 400 grn design that steps down in the front. It always shot well although, were I to order it again I'd likely spec the nose up a thou or two. Havent shot anything that light for a while though. My best results at any distance have always been with a 480 or better weight projectile. GG or PP. Would probably make a dandy hunting bullet though for smaller game than buffalo at least. G. RE: MOre on the 44/77, 44/90 - Kurt - 12-29-2021 Gavin, I took three Bisons with that 485 gr Sharps profile bullet you used at Baker. One in a .44-90 BN and two with the .44-77. Both rifles have a 1/19 twist. And that same bullet shot at 1585 yards with that .44-77 hit a iron Buff and if it was a flesh and blood it would have went down. I really don't know why I don't use that bullet for all the shoots I shoot. RE: MOre on the 44/77, 44/90 - Don McDowell - 12-29-2021 JB one other guy and myself both have the rcbs mould and they both cast the nose to large to fit the bores of our Shilohs I suspect it would flatten anything short of a brontosaurus but it might still make one of those sick and drop his head |
