case separations - degoins - 11-11-2020
Hello all,
I've got 2 Miroku Winchester 73s in .357 that I've had a few years and have shot mostly .38s in them. I had them out the other day to shoot some .357s in to hunt with. I shot Buffalo Bore 125gr and some well below max 158 gr handloads. I got case separations in both rifles with both loads. The cases separated right in the middle. What would cause this?

On the first shot or in a string? Sounds sort of like an oily chamber

Both. Hmm...…..I store them muzzle down, so that could be it. I'll swab them out and see what happens. Thanks for your response.

I swabbed out the bores of both rifles......problem solved. thanks again.

Use a brass brush and clean out the chamber to remove the carbon ring from the 38's
