Rough and ready sight - mherth - 09-14-2018
For those of you using that sight on your rolling blocks, what is the best way to scribe lines on the staff for various distances? Or to scribe lines at equal distances for reference like on a ladder sight? I’d like to start using my 50-70 at various buffalo matches.

You'll be a lot happier to get yourself a good tang sight and be done with it. In my humble opinion.

Steve is correct in his advice, but if you have access to a few machine tools and considerable experience I have a process that sheds light on your question. I've been making sights for about as long I've been machining and shooting - 40+ years? It's been a passion of mine but let me share a little, it hasn't been until the last few maybe 10 years or so that my sights are really worth showing - I look back at a few and chuckle, glad I didn't make them for anyone else... I still don't.
I've posted pictures of some of my projects on another forum and try not to duplicate myself as most of us wander from forum to forum and I don't want to be that intrusive? Is that the word I'm looking for? or come off as a braggart?
I've attached a pdf with some descriptions and pictures. I'd gladly post more as time permits and if any are interested.
