Well done! Congratulations!

RE: 2017 antelope - Don McDowell - 10-03-2017

Thanks Steve. He was with two other bucks and a doe, hardest part was figuring out which one of those bucks to shoot. This one had what looked to be the most mass and longest prongs.

Good Job Don

RE: 2017 antelope - Rowdy Rick - 10-04-2017

Nice picture and antelope Don ! What kind of bullet and load? I shot my first antelope, first elk, and a lot of deer with a .243. A good caliber

RE: 2017 antelope - Don McDowell - 10-04-2017

Thanks Stephen.
Rick this rifle thrives on rp brass, cci primers, 40 gr of H414 and the Hornady 100 gr interloc bt bullet. But that load barely eeks out it's second favored load of just plain ol Remington 100 gr factory loads. Surprisingly enough with that short 20 in barrel on that rifle, the chronograph says both those loads are trotting along at 3k fps.

Nice one!

RE: 2017 antelope - Old Jim - 10-04-2017

Looks like another "south-pasture-buck".

Well done Don!

Jim

I see I'm late to the conversation, I was going to ask how much damage your truck sustained.
My son just got a beautiful buck too after a 2-hour stalk, wasn't sure who was going to outwit who.
I had a BLR in 308 at one time but sold it in a moment of weakness. Sweet rifles.
