Hunting bullets 2017 Season - Stephen Borud - 06-23-2017

What's everyone hunting with this year? Rifle? Bullet?

Last year my son and I each took a deer with a Shiloh 50/70 425 grain pp bullet. The bullet performed very well, and it was the first two kills for this rifle. I also killed a antelope doe with my favorite Shiloh a 50-100-473 pp round. That gun and bullet combo has taken a good dozen animals over the years.

This year however my little Shiloh 40/50 BN with a 265 grain pp bullet needs to make meat. This gun shoots very well and would be perfect for deer and antelope size game.

I'll probably do most of it with the boring ol 44-77 and patched bullets. Altho I would like to fill my antelope tag with the 73 in 44-40.

Nothing boring about the 44-77 Don Smile. I killed my largest antelope buck, a 15" with my 73 Winchester 44-40 with a 30" barrel at 174 yards. The 44-40 round is a killer. I have a 76 Winchester in a 45-60 that's never made meat either. So many options here......not enough animals.
