Paper Patch - Longcarbine - 05-29-2017 What are some of the different papers you guys use for paper patching. RE: Paper Patch - Don McDowell - 05-29-2017 I use mostly Seth Cole 55w. I do use the 9# cotton paper from Paper Mill on occasion, that's not available anymore but I have enough of it to last a very long time. RE: Paper Patch - Don McDowell - 05-29-2017 Order it off of Amazon. Staples has an 8 # tracing paper in their drafting supplies that is very similar to the SC. Those of you that buy and use it, check the price and see if it seems like a good deal. http://www.artsupplywarehouse.com/finelineDisplay.php?id=139013 Sam RE: Paper Patch - Don McDowell - 05-30-2017 Price looks good. I use the 12 inch rolls so it fits just nice in the sliding paper cutter. I cut the paper to the width I want and then staple 5 strips together and then trace my template on the top and cut 5 patches at a time. RE: Paper Patch - bruce moulds - 05-30-2017 the 55y can be handy at times too. it is barely thinner than the 55w. by the time those people mail it to the antipodes it is about aust$100.00 per roll what with exchange rate etc. they must make a profit on postage. keep safe, bruce. RE: Paper Patch - Longcarbine - 05-30-2017 Thanks for the info fellas. RE: Paper Patch - ken s - 08-02-2017 55W works ok, and 55Y, yellow tint is just a little bit thinner. 55 W will not enter my 40 70 SS fired case without 'slightly' expanding and using the fac. crimp die when loaded. while the 55Y will enter it easily by hand. I still use the crimp die to hold in place. both work ok.... Get a proper diameter expanding die, or don't resize your cases. |
