Barnard Minie - Dan - 08-30-2012 Anybody happen to have a sketch or photo of a Bernard style minie bullet? RE: Barnard Minie - Kurt - 08-30-2012 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mini%C3%A9_ball I have a mould for my .58 and it is a hammer on Deer RE: Barnard Minie - Dan - 08-30-2012 (08-30-2012, 10:06 AM)Kurt Wrote: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mini%C3%A9_ball Betcha it is! Do you know if there is any substantial difference between the classical Minie bullet form and the Barnard version? Asking because it occurs a Minie or variant thereof might work for a certain application I'm pondering in a slower twist deep groove rifle. Conversation with another fella indicates the "Barnard Minie" shoots well in a 70" twist rifle. Dan RE: Barnard Minie - Kurt - 08-30-2012 Dan. I don't know much about Mini's except what I use. I did see several different types at the yearly collectors show and I saw some on the table marked Barnard used in a enfields. They resembled the ring tailed bullets used in the percussion sharps and they had more lube rings. I use a mini in a .010 deep 70 twist .58 caliber barrel and it shoots quite well in it. Don or the rdnck might know more about them. Kurt RE: Barnard Minie - Dan - 09-01-2012 (08-30-2012, 12:58 PM)Kurt Wrote: Dan. I found some info on the Bernard Minie, or facsimile thereof. The bullet on the right is alleged to be a very close clone and comes from a Lyman mould still in production. The fella that showed me this said he turned down the base plug to thicken the base a bit and shoots them from a 70 twist ML with hunting grade accuracy. ![]() ![]() RE: Barnard Minie - Kurt - 09-01-2012 Dan.
