Sure did it this year. - Kurt - 07-25-2016

This year I sort of went overboard with new rifles. Rolleyes
First I picked up my new .45-90 44-1/2 Stevens CPA rifle that is proving out to shooting very good at the Q and the Montana 1000 with out having a chance to work up a load for it, and here at home now with load developments for it.
A Marlin Cowboy .45-70 that shoots the Pope stile flat nose exceptionally well and a square bolt Marlin Mod. 93 in the 30 caliber that is mint and shooting well. It has been a fine match season so far and not over yet. Tongue Looking forward for next year already. Wink

Good on you Kurt! Always fun working up new rifles and the 2 Marlin's should prove to be lot's of fun. (Hate to admit this but the old 30 30 is still one of my favorite deer rifles). Enjoy the new long guns!!

Eric.
I was really looking for a .38-55, but when I looked at it I just could not put it back. This rifle has a 4 digit SN 53XX and it looked like it spent most of it's life stuck in the corner of the closet with a perfect bore and metal.
First thing when I got home I dug out some loads with cast bullets I had loaded for the 336 Marlin and shot it at 100 yds. I put a smile on my face when I walked down to look at the target Smile It pulls left a little and looking at the front sight it is slightly bent to the right. It must have tipped over once and got a slight bend.

Good score picking up that Marlin, Kurt. Certainly looks to be in excellent condition with some colouring still evident on the metal. A closet queen perhaps and just waiting to get some range time. Smile

Gavin.

I don't think I will make it back to Montana again this season. I made two trips there this year plus I went from the East coast this spring to the west coast, Washington. Put over 8000 miles on the Gypsy wagon so far this season and Lodi is in the first week of Sept plus Alliance August 13th & 14th. I'm not sure when Medicine Rocks is on, but Alma Michigan is after Lodi.
I'm getting sittingides sitting in that Gypsy wagon. Rolleyes but it's been a good fun summer so far.
