Was going thru stuff and in the envelope of shooting things from last year was a certificate for 100$ off of a Green Mtn barrel.. I had looked at options to use it for last fall but then,,, Anyway was looking at their web site and they had heavy contour sharps 44 caliber barrels for 265... So a quick phone call and a nice visit with a fella named Mike,,, and now I have tracking info on my new barrel...But the question is what to put it on?
Would like to find a Borchardt or at least a Borchardt action at a reasonable price.. But a hi wall might be ok, but geez we got 3 of them already...
Oh and also got notice this morning from Gail Brooks they shipped the two moulds I ordered...

It will be a 44-90 st, now matter what action it ends up on. I really like that cartridge. Keep your eyes peeled, if you see a Borchardt at a sensible price let me know..

Don, How about attaching your new GM barrel to a CPA action/stock? That should be a good shooter. Re: Ballards, Steve Garbe might be able to put you on the trail of a good 1; I've also heard good reports on the Cody Ballards assuming that one can be flushed out of the bushes somewhere. Just a few thoughts.

IR, got 3 CPA's already,that's enough.... Have a Cody Ballard in 32-40, and it is a nice one.. Thinking a Borchardt would be good as I don't have one of those. That would pretty well round out our collection.

The good thing with having three CPA rifles is you can have a designated .22 rimfire and a big bore long range that shoots the best and a third one use it for a switch barrel rifle. The cost is low just replacing the barrels and wood as well if you want to change it to a hooked butplate for that game.
The .45-90 I have coming will be my switch barrel rifle setup for the silhouettes and when I decide on a barrel maker I will go with the .44-70 Maynard caliber. Kelly O-Roos shot one with great effect and talked to me many times building one up and he even sent me his print for the chamber reamer he used.
I think the .44-70 would be a light recoil chamber and more then enough for the iron critters.
