Enlarging Flash Hole - Klaus - 06-22-2015
Hi Gent`s
maybe a stupid question but how much can i enlarge Flashhole ?
I open up my FH to 3/32
what do you think is possibile ?

Klaus--3/32 is enough. You don't need any more than that. I don't know what the maximum is, but it can turn in to a safety issue. Shoot straight, rdnck.

i think i have had made a mistake because i open a batch of shells to 1/8
use the wrong drill ....
shall it be better to put them aside ...

You can get a tool from Buffalo arms to reduce flash hole size but you may get the flash hole too thin with the size you have. The tool was designed to reduce flash holes from .080 to .060. I dont know of anyone drilling out flash holes anymore with good sporting grade powder.

Sometimes we overthink things that are best left alone.
When flash-holes are made thru the case-bottom, a manufacturing-bur can be created inside the case, and it can be removed with a small tool. Removal of it may improve the flash created by the primer into the powder charge. So much has been said about using different types of primers, ie, pistol, LR and Magnum LR primers. Some experimenting with the different primers offered should indicate to the shooter acceptable performance in trial loads.
Primer-pockets should be checked for proper depth.
