My new N frame - parkergunz - 06-10-2015 ![]() I picked this up at a farm auction last weekend. It's a S&W Hand Ejector 2nd Model .44 spl. with a 5" barrel. SN dates it to 1931. Obviously the grips are not original. It's a sweet shooting piece.
RE: My new N frame - Don McDowell - 06-10-2015 Sweet.
RE: My new N frame - Nuclearcricket - 06-11-2015 Yes Sweet, but I think it would look very good right next to MY 1917. Sam RE: My new N frame - Lumpy Grits - 06-11-2015 WOW! ![]() Looks to be in great shape too ![]() Gary RE: My new N frame - Martini2 - 06-15-2015 Wow, that's an Ideal find. The grips look at bit younger than the host N frame. I have S&W 25-5 in 45LC 6 inch that has worn Pacmyer rubber grips for some time. Those originals are beautiful but leave their mark on your paw if enough recoil is involved. My 25-5s wood grips are resting in safe until someday they will once again grace the blue metal and enhance selling price for my heirs You may wish to check both the bore dia. and also the cylinder throats. In 45 cal. there was a difference. Not sure in the 44s. Congrats happy camper.
RE: My new N frame - parkergunz - 06-17-2015 I need to get together with a friend with a set of pin gauges. I'm shooting a Keith style Lyman bullet, sized .430, ww with a bit of tin, BAC lube, 7 grains of Unique or 15 gr 2400 and a CCI LPP. These chrono out of my Ruger BH Flattop at about 900 fps.
RE: My new N frame - Lumpy Grits - 06-17-2015 Why the 'pin' gauge deal? Gary RE: My new N frame - Nuclearcricket - 06-17-2015 I don't know for sure Gary but it would be my guess that the pin gauges will be used to measure the cylinder throats to match the bullet to the throat. They say that is the best thing to do to get the most accuracy out of a revolver. I would be interested in hearing just what size they are and how much variation there is between chambers. Sam RE: My new N frame - Lumpy Grits - 06-17-2015 If it shoots good-who cares. .430 dia bullet just slides through the throats of my .44 S&W Mountain Gun. I would use the bullet that you shoot, for the 'gauge'. ![]() Gary RE: My new N frame - Plastikosmd - 06-17-2015 Looks nice, if u decide u want more original grips I have a gun that could use those.
