Now what to do... - Don McDowell - 04-02-2015

Just picked up a deal on a Manson 45-90 paper patch reamer, and a KAL .444 tgb mould. Got them both for about what one or the other would cost.
So now the big question, do I ream the Browning, or do I spin the 44-77 barrel off of the roughrider and put the 45-70 barrel and ream, or do I ream the Italian with the goofy 45-70 chamber that is to long... Or do I find a deal on some other nondescript 45-70 and enlarge it's chamber.... Huh

Leaning toward cleaning up the Italian chamber and seeing how things go from there.

That makes sense Don. I can't imagine you turning a .44 into a .45 :-) :-)

What are the specs on that reamer anyway? I imagine it was the one posted on bpcr.net?

Chris.

check real close before running the tight reamer in , the chamber may be too large at the mouth to clean up and it may leave a ring at the end of the chamber.. been there and have the lollypop!!!

Dean is right Don.
You better make a cast and measure the cast and reamer.
Is this a chamber reamer or a throater?

Chris yes turning a 44 into a 45 just seems to go against the laws of nature.....
Don't know the specs on it, will know more about that come Monday when it gets here.

Dean the Italian chamber is about 1/4 inch short, so the worst case would be it'ld be a bottle neck...
Kurt yes it's a reamer . Marked Manson 45-90 Paper Patch.
