Reboring a Barrel to 50-70 - Flash Pan Dan - 01-26-2015
I have been considering having my 40-65 Pedersoli Sharps bored out to 50-70 for hunting. To what bore dimension should I have it bored? I would like to have the chamber reamed for paper patched bullet use. Can someone point me to a good reamer to use.
And while we are at it, may I have your opinions on reboring a barrel. Have any of you had experience with it and who would you recommend?

Flash Pan, I agree with Lumpy. One reason why is that your .40/65 barrel might be on the light side, considering external barrel dimensions, for a .50 caliber. Getting a new barrel also gives you the option of changing it back to a .40/65 if you ever want to. You'll end up needing that new barrel, a new extractor, and more than likely a new forearm for the rifle. Probably new sights too. Yes, that sounds like at least half of a new rifle... Maybe getting another rifle, in .50/70, isn't a bad idea. Shoot sharp, Mike
