CPA 44 1/2 - Don McDowell - 12-19-2014

Kurt what are the specs on your rifle with the 22 barrel? Sort of thinking one of them might just be the ticket.

RE: CPA 44 1/2 - Kurt - 12-19-2014

Don.

The barrel is a Douglas XX premium 28" long. It is the same profile as the .44 except it's 4" shorter. 1.253" at the breach 1.030 at the muzzle and it weighs 8# with the wood and front sight on it and scope blocks.

Kurt

That probably handles pretty nice off hand then to doesn't it? Can your Carolyn hold it up?
Thinking real hard on one of theses. Thinking maybe to have the length of pull shortened to 13 1/2 or so, so Carol and I can both use it.
Then the shoot offs could really be interesting. Smile

RE: CPA 44 1/2 - Kurt - 12-19-2014

Don.

Smile Carolyn don't handle my rifles to often maybe just to help get up on line she will hold it.
I don't know what this rifle will weigh with the .22 barrel on it with the scope. It handles a lot better with the tang sights then with the scope. I Don't remember what the length of pull is I think John said it was 13.5" but don't hold me to this.
I haven't shot much since I got this rifle with my time being tied up going to the clinic three times a week getting me back in shape again and it just seems like the cold is really biting me now that I just cant keep my shooting where it should be, so I been spending my time in the mole den casting and cutting wads for next season.
If you do decide on this project with the .22 barrel I think I would just order a complete rifle the way you want it. Cost wise it will not be that much more.

That's what I'm thinking, just have them build and ship it, ready to go to work. Might call them next week and visit with Gail about it.

RE: CPA 44 1/2 - Kurt - 12-19-2014

When you talk to Gail ask what her thought is about the through bolt holding the butstock over the tang screws.

RE: CPA 44 1/2 - Don McDowell - 12-19-2014

Is this something that will get my head snapped off? LOL

RE: CPA 44 1/2 - Kurt - 12-20-2014

No. It's an option. I been reading some guys are having vertical problems and they say that the through bolt solves this and then you read from guys that say it's not the case. But they are talking about the bench guns.

Interesting.
