Spiral Rod Rifling Machine- questions - JH Durkee - 12-02-2014

I picked up a rifling machine at a recent auction and I just noticed that it did not have an indexing assembly, nor could I find where one was ever attached. Rather strange. Anyway, has anyone ran across something like this and does anyone know where a guy could get a spiral square rod made for a specific twist. It currently has a 48 twist rod and a 36 cal. barrel still installed in it, so the smith was rotating the rod using some type of process. Thanks for any help, LBjr.

Heres the pic, see attached.

Souare bar mounted between fixed heads and twisted till required twist is reached, index can be done by slideing disc at handel end and using roller bearings to run on twist bar, Vic Aust.

Thanks Longrange,
I'm now using it. I made an indexing unit with bar stock and cutting 7 grooves. I even have new cold rolled square rod if I want to bend new twist rates. Its been fun but Im finally doing a "bucket" item that I've strangely always wanted, to cut my own barrel. Take care and hold center.
