Question for Powderburner - Don McDowell - 06-25-2012

Dean did I understand correctly that you didn't use a tube or wiped for the entire Quigley match?
Mind sharing your secret?

RE: Question for Powderburner - bobw - 06-25-2012

Don , Dean blow tubed the whole match but never cleaned between targets he just rehydrated his barrel with the blow tube before starting the next set of targets. I know I spotted for him and he did some fine shooting. bobw

Yes he did some fine shooting. Used that innaccurate ol 44-77 to boot....
Makes more sense now, with just the blow tube. With that short KAL bullet I didn't take enough of I could shoot a relay with just the blowtube, and accuracy was holding fine. Sadly I didn't take enough of them to shoot the entire match...

I am sure he'll be on to set me straight if i error here but I think his were .432" patched to .439" and weighed 480grs that can't be to short in a 44? bobw

RE: Question for Powderburner - Don McDowell - 06-25-2012

I had my mould set for 1.1 inches , they weighed at 380 grs. Lil buggers shot rather well.

RE: Question for Powderburner - powderburner - 06-25-2012

I shot a 432 bullet at 475 gn and 1.3 length it is the same overall length as the baco swaged 500 gn bullet ,
I did rehydrate the barrel at the start of each relay but I did clean my rifle sat night , but I did however shoot the promitory match which is a 60 rnd match with just the tube ,as well as the creedmoore and the buff match there ,
my alloy is a little more lead heavy than dons , my 1.1 with a cup base weights 405

If we get another rain tommorrow afternoon, I might run out and try some of these shorties at 1000 yds. Right now it's to scary dry to be shooting in the pasture.
