But as usual I didn't pay a whole lot of attention. I shot the sillouette match this weekend with paper patch. Didn't shoot very well but there's one big bright spot that brings on the title of this thread.
I shot 7 straight pigs this morning shooting the short tankbuster bullet , 77 grs 2f OE, just blowtubing between shots.
Danged ol bottle necks won't shoot, and you need to wipe between shots for accuracy.

Last season i shot PP, and one eventful day i cleaned the pigs, wiping one time, perhaps just lucky, we'll see.
Next loads are in cut down 45-120 cases (trimmed to 45-2.1) the thicker walls may help tighten things up-----the quest continues

Cut those down to just fit the chamber, then use the 444 bullets and 8 lb paper. Felt wad , and jojoba on the patch I think are the real accuracy keys.

Looks like this one, only it's 1.1 inches long. .435 at the base, and the nose is .431.

Thanks Don. That doesn't look too different than my short .45 cal Creedmoor bullet, but with a meplat. I see why you call it the tank buster :-)

Thats the plan Don, brass is cut need one round of forming then we should be in great shape-----the biggest problem for me is the barber towel humidity here on the gulf coast when its hot, it will soak up a patch really quick---i'll try the Jojoba for humidity proofing-------------------i'm having some luck with the baking parchment so far

Not bad shooting on the pigs Don, but any idea of what cause those 3 pork chop packers to escape?
Do you feel it was the load, the light or just the nut behind the butt? It sounds like you have a pp load that is working pretty good for you. Maybe next year I will get around to trying some PP in the 44-77. I am hoping my rifle will be finished by the end of this month and I can send a few down range with it. It will be interesting to see how it shoots to start with those 480 gr GG bullets I got from Accurate Molds.

It was the first time I'ld ever shot sillouette, the first time at that range, and combine that with a loose nut behind the butt, and some weird little wind switches...

OH Don, I didn't realize that this was your maiden voyage to the silhouette game. I humbly apoligize for sounding a little sarcastic. 7 pigs for your first time out is pretty damn good. It is a fun game and a hell of a lot different than shooting paper or just gongs. My biggest problem has always been the turkeys. Their body is just a little off set from their legs and I think that your eye is naturally drawn to center things up with the leg. You can either teach your self to hold off of the leg or just add a little windage to what ever direction they are facing. I know I have run 10 pigs in a row. I may have a 10 ram pin or 2, but I don't think I have any 10 turkey pins, and I damn sure don't have any chicken pins.
I do hope you had enough fun at your first silhouette match that you will return and have more fun at it in the future.
