RE: Stevens 44 - Caprock - 07-09-2014 Don, heres a safe queen I had for years and shot occasionally. The pull is really way too short for me. Anyway it was a beautiful .22 rifle and hated to see it go but it was time to trim the herd. One of the prettiest Stevens I've ever seen and all original. Stevens 44 RE: Stevens 44 - Don McDowell - 07-09-2014 Wow that was a pretty one Sam. You just don't find these rifles in that type of condition very often. RE: Stevens 44 - Caprock - 07-09-2014 They are far and few between. Picked it up some years ago at the Wannamacher Show in Tulsa. I sure had mixed feelings about selling it but to be a real shooter it needed a heavier barrel and a different stock....at least for me. You ever get a chance Don you ought to make it to that show once in your life....its like no other. RE: Stevens 44 - Don McDowell - 07-09-2014 I'ld like to sometime, but it's so dang far from here. I do want to make the big show in Denver again. I was there about 30 years ago and we never did get thru all the buildings, and the one rifle I wanted to go back and see about getting we never did find the right place again.. It's a show that you HAVE to go see at least once in your life. 11.5 acres under roof, over 4,000 tables. I believe they said that if you looked at each table, you would have 18 seconds per table over the entire weekend. ![]() My best friend and I went two years ago to the April show and we walked all day, both days. There is just too much to see, so you learn to categorize what you're looking for and stick with those type tables. You have to still keep an eye out though, for there are some treasures tucked away on some of the "not-my-taste" tables. ![]() You meet some great folks there! Can't count the surprises I've seen over the years. |
