They said they had any of them in roll's but these are just for testing to make sure one or the other will work. I thought I had a lot of stuff in the gun room for my gun's and reloading but the all the thing's for PP beat's that and then some. Zee doctor must have all zee right ingredeant's for der experament on hand or das pipenboomen vill not whaken der target.

Thank you Don, Just finished putting my gun and gear in the truck for silly wet match in the morn. at T.R.C. in Tucson. This will be my first time. I am going to use my snover GG load in the 40-70 as Zack said PP won't work for silly wet. I hope I don't kill the barrel on bad betty for PP

I have a patched load for the 44-77 that would work great for sillywets, unfortunately the nearest match is a 6 hour drive one way...

It was -11 when I got up this morning so I picked up my Maynard book and started reading and I ran onto the loading instructions Maynard used and from some of the original rounds I have pulled it mirrors what I have seen also for the Remington loads.
Farther into the book it shows the bullets and groups shot with ring and patched Mr. Dodge used.

Why do you think they recommended the slit in the patch?
What caliber were they shooting? Maybe the case was too small so the bullet could not bump up enough to cut through two layers of paper.
Inquiring minds need to know.

They did not mention why or any particular caliber. But Maynard had PP and Naked grooved bullets from the .22 up .55 caliber that held 100 grains of powder. For the mentioned Creedmoor rifle it was a chambered .44 with a 520 and 550 grain PP with 100 grains powder
I figure they did it for a faster patch release.

Tim I know that there are a few folks who use paper patch in silhouette. I've shot with one of them and I know that Brent Danielson has done it. I've played with my wiping routine to see if I could use 1 damp and 1 dry but to be honest the accuracy is then better with my grease grooved rifles.
I want to see if I can get some Gentleman Jim bore pigs and see how well that works. The fellow I shot with used homemade bore pigs and it worked for him.

It takes some time and a good bit of piddlin, but it's not impossible to come up with a paper patch load that will hold the accuracy needed for sillouette using a blowtube, just like a grease groove.It's when you start stetching out past 600 yds that those loads start to not being so good..
The dual diameter bullets work best for that sort of load.

I read some where some folks used a pure beeswax disc between the powder and the lubrication disc. Anyone ever try that.???
