I have just ordered more delrin rod material from a nearby plastics supply company to
do another run of my wiping rods-
They are 48" x 5/16 and 48x3/8 and I thread them female 8-32 at both ends for jags and brushes. I can make them longer or shorter if needed.

thats a pretty good deal in my eyes. I don't remember exactly but it runs in my mind when I ordered my rods they cost me more than that for just 2 rods when you add in the shipping.
But then I didn't shop around. The material was available from the same supplier i order my metal from.

First match with the little pea shooter in the books. Had a really bad start on turkeys with only
4 on the first bank and 1 on the second. That was with the 67 grain 3F load. I was a little disappointed of course but while cleaning between relays I pulled out TONS of hard fouling. First patch patch didn’t want to go through it was so thick. I switch over to the 64 grain 1.5 load and that fixed it. 10 rams 4 chickens and 10 pigs. Really really nice group on the rams with a very tight vertical string. I shot all day without a recoil pad and didn’t miss it at all. I am really happy so far with the way this project has been going. 2 day match at friendship in March should really tell a story. It is also looking like this 1.47” long bullet is plenty stable in this 12 twist but shooting in some really wild wind can confirm or deny this but in my gut ,after seeing how it shoots with the 1.5, I think it’s going to be really good.

I have been using 1.5F Swiss ,too. I can get 67 grains of an early Denser Lot of it under my 1.46" 360 grains DDEPP bullet.My rifle is a 10 twist.
More recent 1.5 , I am using 64.5 grains.
It will be interesting to see what happens when the twitchy winds, especially 10:00-2:00 with your 12 twist and that long a bullet.

The really frustrating thing is that before the match I shot 9 turkeys off the rail out of 10 with the 1.5 but for whatever reason I just thought I should try the 3F. That score could have easily been a 32 or 33 but oh well. Live and learn.

Very interesting and thank you for the update Ian, and still fine shooting with a new shooter at the first match.
I have tried 1.5F with Swiss and the OE as well as 2F with OE and 3F OE.
I have not had the fouling issue you have found. The 1.5 I get some awful verticals using both swiss and OE unless I breach seat the DDPP. With the 3F I get good results with the bullet seated in the case.
I also shot some of the 371-345DD in the snow pile but that pile was stacked up off the drive way and had gravel mixed in with ti so they have some damage but I don't see any reason that they act crazy like I see on the 200 yard paper.
What is the 3F Swiss or OE?
I'm still waiting for my new mould so I stopped shooting till I get it.
The fouling issue sure is a head scratcher with either powder for me but I haven't shot as many in one day as you did during the match to get the barrel warm.

After we were done I realized why this happened. Before when shooting the Swiss 3F I was using 2 wet felts on my back wipers. Even with the mop my chamber was a little damp sometimes. Well I decided to try something different. I put a dry felt on first and then a wet felt on the top of the wiper. That seemed to take care of that and it worked really well with the 1.5 when I tried it Friday. I also shot the wipers this way on Saturday morning without problem before the match started but that was with 1.5. I guess the 3F will need both wet felts because it really does shoot good and has shot really good when I used 2 wet felts. I was also pushing the wiper through the bore really fast because I was just so damn excited lol. I’m sure that compounded the issue so I will try the same set up again but push the wiper through really slow. When the temps get really hot I will probably have to use 2 wet felts with the 1.5 I will be back at the silhoette range on Saturday so I will be able to revisit this and see what is really going on. The 3F might be a good choice for long range.
