Thanks Don, I am thinking of using that nose shape for a ddpp mold. Is there a certain person at baco to speak with when specifying a mold?

Your best bet would be to call up there and ask them if they would make a bullet with your specs with their Medford original nose. You could also just tell them to make it like this one only change the diameters. If they like it and think they can make it they'll let you know when they assign it a catalog number and then you can order that catalog number.
They may have something like your looking for already in their extensive (somewhere in the 1000's) of designs already in their system.
I asked a contact there that I'm friends/acquaintance with , and that's how I got this one. I just told them to make like the .434470 bullet only add the base. In a couple of days they email with the drawing and asked if that was what I wanted, then built it and sent me the catalog number..

Tim good luck with the pursuit of your new super secret supeduty bullet mould. Be sure to keep us posted on how it goes for you.
Another option is to send Steve Brooks an approximate drawing and description of the mould you're thinking about, if the BACO thing doesn't pan out for you.

Don, I had not intended to be secretive. I am planning a mold for my new to me Rolling block in 44 90 remmington straight. It has a Badger barrel, 1 turn in 18". The bore is a tight. 438". The groove diameter is .446". The chamber is cut for grease groove bullets. The fired brass will accept a .4465" pingauge, with a little room to spare. The chamber has .200" of freebore. My plan is to use Arnie's jim443495epp mold but change the nose to a metford type design. I am thinking of adding. 050" to the base length, due to the freebore. But I don't want to increase the overall length of 1.39". My paper adds. 005". I would appreciate any input from the membership. Now we are all in on the super secret. Tim.

I think that 438470 from baco cast 16-1 and wrapped in a 7/8 in wide patch cut from Seth cole 55y will shoot just fine in your rifle
Probably somewhere around 84 grains of 1.5 and a .060 or slightly thicker wad

The 434470 cast and wrapped the same with the cases sized are a good tight slip fit and shoot very well in my 44-90 st rifles

I took no offense to the secret remark. It motivated me to share my thoughts with the forum. I am tempted to order the 438470. I don't fully understand your thoughts on the base diameter, .438" vs. .443". Thanks again for all of your assistance. Tim.

Don, so I see you answered my base diameter question before I asked. You resize your cases instead of reloading fireformed brass. Do you resize for all your blackpowder rifles?

Yes I do. I prefer and my rifles agree that a bullet with some neck tension shoots best.
I also find tha shooting patched in a standard chamber the cases don’t expand quite like they do with a greaser.
If the size die sizes the case to tight for the patched bullet then I use an expander die that expands the mouth to .001 over the patches diameter
