Looks like you could take a 100 rounds of any of those and shoot a very good score in a 22bpcr match.

Measured barrels today. 16", 20", 24". When I get done working on my loading room, I'll dig out the Chrono and see what happens.

Don I figure 1 MOA at what I shot today your right. The Fed HV match really surprised me when I stopped running them over the chronograph I shot a bunch and they held very tight.

Jim I never thought about pulling the 24" out and use the same lot of shells with it.
I know one thing for sure that I better put some scope blocks on the highwall as dim as my eyes are looking through the 8X MVA scope.

OK Jim I shot again today and got a comparison velocity between the 24" and the 28" barrels from the same box of 50 Norma match and shot both rifles at a 10 minute interval at 37 degrees F.
Also I had the target setup at 55 yards to run some mid price range match ammo in a 8 o-clock full factor winds. I did not change the sight settings to see if any show the effects of wind over others.
.22 velocity temp 38 degrees F winds 9 to 13 mph 8 O-clock full factor. CPA 28" barrel

I had the best intentions today. Then when I was about ready, it started raining.
I have the crony out, 3 .22s. 16", 20", 24" barrels. I want to see the velocity change with length. I'll check 2 or 3 brands, std and high velocity.

Those results really surprised me from what I been reading about the velocity from a 16" barrel was optimum. The 997.3 out of the 28" as a error I should have erased. The wind twisted the sensors to one side when I fired and that sure threw off the ES for the Norma match. But I will run this test again with the 28" CPA and the 24" Win low wall. I will also check the barrel lengths of the 52 Win and the other .22 bolt rifles but I think they are all 24" or longer. No sense using the Semi auto's because the loss of the blow back actions.
I will be interested to see what your outcome with the shorter barrels will be.

Might check out your statement about the semi autos too. I have a 20" bolt gun and semi auto. I'll run both to see if there's a difference between them.

It looks like the Fed target (picture #4) shoots better than most and is less than half the price. What is the full name of that brand? I looked it up on Ammoseek website to see the price but they list several different names for Federal target ammo. I might try some and compare it to Norma in my wife's Stevens.

Very interesting and timely thread for me, I just got my rifle up and running this past week. It's only taken me 7 years to do something with this Green Mountain barrel after winning it in a mid-range match at Lodi in June of 2011! Best 2nd place prize I've even won too.[attachment=1305]
I couldn't decide between 26 and 28 inch barrel so I went with 27 inches. I finally decided on a C. Sharps 1875 action so it is the same make and weight of my big bore (.40-65) silhouette rifle.
Ammo to feed such a critter had been almost nonexistent in my area for about 8 years, but I was happy to see that has recently improved. The attached target is from my first time out with it shooting anything I had on hand that would fit in the chamber. I only had a few Wolf Target which shot pretty well at 50 yards. 200 meter groups with anything I've tried haven't really impressed me yet. What kind of groups is anyone else getting at 200 yards/meters? Just wondering.

Sure is a bunch of fun to shooting and does pretty well out to 100 yards. I'm looking forward to testing some of the new ammo I just picked up this week.
Keep the ammo testing going, I look forward to seeing what's working for you guys.
