RE: 22 shooting - Don McDowell - 02-19-2016 Quite a bit of this "you have to do it this way" stuff is just so often repeated from long forgotten sources but has been repeated so often that it's become true fact,,, Never mind those that don't necessarily believe that myth and go on to find out, that doing it "the" way, might actually be counter productive.. RE: 22 shooting - Gunlaker - 02-19-2016 Don, I think a lot of the ideas floated around are repeated by people who haven't even tried any different :-). I haven't shot my CPA with the .22 barrel yet. I have to start doing the weekly offhand practice like you are doing. My problem is that every time I get started on that path I think I ought to practice my prone shooting, so usually do that twice a week instead. That's going to probably hurt me at my once annual schuetzen match this Spring in Tacoma. Chris. RE: 22 shooting - Don McDowell - 02-19-2016 Chris , we started on this offhand thing, thinking to get into the postal match, but then we didn't have enough to make a team. But during our once weekly get together I still shoot the targets off hand, as I like offhand shooting, and believe that silhouette matches are lost on the chickens. Also I think it's good conditioning for the position midrange matches. RE: 22 shooting - Ironramrod - 02-19-2016 Don Mc, That's some good offhand shooting on that WSU target; at least it's a lot better than I do. I also agree w/ you on the clean .22 rimfire barrels, too. You should see my WSU targets that are shot w/ a dirty barrel. ![]() Regards IR RE: 22 shooting - Don McDowell - 02-19-2016 IR, I got some WSU targets that look not so pretty good... I think this would of been the first time I was set to break 1000 if I would of shot the second target. Those 3 vertical shots were 2,3, and 4, then I put two in the white. That outlier at 10 was the first shot from clean barrel. Then Ms. Shorty got confused on which target she was shooting from the bench and really made a mess out of my 2 25'sLOL RE: 22 shooting - Kurt - 02-19-2016 Where do you get those targets? RE: 22 shooting - Ironramrod - 02-19-2016 Kurt, I think that part of SPG's business has been sold to Larry Baker Jr. , and he is somewhere in NE Missouri; IIRC. Certainly SPG could steer you into the right spot. Additionally, the Davenport Shooting Assoc. now runs the the WSU winter league matches. On their website they have a section of printable targets from your computer printer that are similar to the WSU targets except they have 12 bulls/ 8.5x11 sheet of paper. They are in both black/white and orange/white colors. Regards IR RE: 22 shooting - Ironramrod - 02-19-2016 Kurt, I forgot to include the website of the Davenport group, but try this. www.dsaiowa.com Sorry about that. ![]() Regards RE: 22 shooting - Kurt - 02-19-2016 Thank you kindly sir.
