RE: Gussy's Buff Video - Sarge - 10-23-2015 Mighty fine, indeed. Created the best tracking job of all, 2 feet straight down. OUTSTANDING! Sarge RE: Gussy's Buff Video - Denali - 10-24-2015 Nice clean kill! Lots of delicious meat. Congratulations! RE: Gussy's Buff Video - rdnck - 10-24-2015 Gussy--I meant to ask. Did you shoot through and through the animal? If so, about how big was the exit wound? Thanks. Shoot straight, rdnck. RE: Gussy's Buff Video - Stephen Borud - 10-24-2015 Nice work Gussy! Great video! Thanks. Shoot straight, rdnck. It was straight through dead center on the spine. I did not actually check the exit after he was skinned but on the ground it did not look real big. The skin pulls back some after the exit and looking at the bone, the bullet had to have opened up a LOT. We went back out there the next day with metal detectors and tried to find the bullet just o seee it!! The grass was just to high and thick. I told Rick he needed to go out with the lawn mower so we'd have a better chance
RE: Gussy's Buff Video - rdnck - 10-24-2015 OK, thanks. That's sort of what I expected. The exit hole is not usually a great deal larger than the entrance hole. That was dead nuts perfect bullet placement. Shoot straight, rdnck. RE: Gussy's Buff Video - Nuclearcricket - 10-25-2015 Gussy, your shot was a little like the last buck I shot here in PA with my Marlin 45-70. I held the rifle just a tad too long and the front sight was starting to bounce up and down some. When he took one more stop out I pulled the trigger as the sight was coming up and hit him in the spine just above the shoulder blade. I have never seen anything fall that fast in my life. Now this was back before I had seen the light and moved over to the dark side. That rifle seems to like a 300 gr hollow point over a modest charge of smokeless. Even tho it was a jacketed hollow point, all the damage was contained to an area about the size of a tennis ball. I would guess that there was very little to almost no meat loss do to bullet placement. You really gota love those big ole fat slow moving slugs. They just get the job done and keep on trucking. And they only kill in the end that is important. The herd was jumpy and moved when they figured we had bad intentions. Man those animals can run fast!! Nice warm day with a slight cross wind.Hey Gussy, Please let me be a pest. Which grade of Olde Eynsford did you use? Also, the "Government" bullet I'm guessing is the 500 grain #457125. Is that right? I must ask because the 400 (advertised as 385) grain #457124 is also a Government bullet. We want to know the truth, you know. Good doin's again, and Shoot sharp, Mike RE: Gussy's Buff Video - Gussy - 10-25-2015 (10-25-2015, 02:52 PM)Mike Wrote:(10-23-2015, 08:27 PM)Gussy Wrote: We made 4-5 approaches and several moves each time before one wanted his picture taken.
